I can open 7 instances in S1 with a class compliant audiointerface. I hope we will see updates in the future that improve the DSP usage. The high CPU usage makes sense since the Helix native is a one to one port from the hardware. Overall, I like the plugin- it's good, not amazing, but I still have lots to go through. The plugin sounds good, but not earth-shattering and not necessarily better than my other stuff like Toneforge or Podfarm with custom IR's that barely move the CPU meter at all. System still performed well, but that really surprised me. Turn on the Helix plugin and CPU usage jumps to 42%. The CPU usually hovers around 3% and gets me a well balanced and mixed sound. Like others have mentioned, DSP is high- My tracking template runs well on my first-gen i7 system with the buffer at 64 and includes lots of Slate, Waves, and Fabfilter plugins. I hope we will see updates in the future that improve the DSP usage. I'm a native user, so that plus the CPU usage means I probably won't be using this during tracking. One other downside for Pro Tools users (haven't tried the VST2/3 version yet)- this plugin has 55 samples of delay. Line 6 tends to be pretty firm with their pricing. Also I don't know if Podfarm 2 Platinum EVER went on sale. Hard to recommend paying $400 for this when there are so many killer options on there. I feel like even $300 was kinda steep for me. I do wish there was a way to zoom close up on the images of the amps/pedals since they look really cool. The "blocks" flow chart is perfect for this kind of plugin. Many of the amps are very vibey and the clean amps are MUCH better than Podfarm. After an hour I made it about 1/8 of the way through the presets. Started by cycling the presets and jamming riffs inspired by the tone. Having previously owned Podfarm 2 Platinum, I received $100 off. Spent a little over an hour this morning with Helix and I'm happy with it so far.
